A very important gift that the Lord of the Church has given to His church through the Holy Spirit is the gift of speaking and praying in tongues.
“For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.”1 Corinthians 14:2
No believer can fully fulfill his prophetic destiny and potentials without taking advantage of this precious gift of supernatural language. It is a gift for all God’s children. You must not let the enemy rob you of this! Do not think that it is a special gift only for bishops, pastors and reverends; it is indeed a special gift, but for all God’s children!
Are you baptized in the Holy Spirit?
“John answered, saying to all, ‘I indeed baptize you with water; but One mightier than I is coming, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.’” Luke 3:16
If you are reading this and are yet to be baptized in the Holy Spirit, then you must deliberately seek for it. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is the key to receiving the heavenly language of praying in tongues, and the installation of God’s power engine on your inside!
The blessed benefits of praying in tongues.
“I wish you all spoke with tongues…” 1 Corinthians 14:5
There are a lot of benefits of praying in tongues, and there are no disadvantages! It is indeed a perfect gift from above (See James 1:17).
1) It edifies and strengthens your spirit, making it like a building constructed of iron and concrete!
“He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself.” 1 Corinthians 14:4
The more you pray in tongues, the stronger and more rugged your spirit becomes. When you’re strong in your spirit, it becomes very difficult for the devil to manipulate you. It makes your spirit rise above the pressures of life and easily quenches arrows from the devil!
2) Praying in tongues strengthens your fellowship with the Spirit of God.
“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.” 2 Corinthians 13:14
Fellowship with God is a supernatural thing and cannot be executed by your mental faculties. Fellowship with God is a spirit-to-spirit communication. Your spirit becomes more drawn and responsive to God’s Spirit the more you pray in your supernatural language.
You see, praying in tongues is an encrypted communication between you and God and the devil cannot listen in. He can’t eavesdrop because attempting to eavesdrop will confuse him.
You have a weapon with which to confuse the devil every time he wants to misbehave around your life. However, that is just a side-effect of praying in tongues. You must keep your eyes and set your heart on the main purpose which is encrypted communication and fellowship with God’s Spirit.
3) It sensitizes your spirit to the voice of the Lord.
“And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.” John 10:4
In the natural world, the more time and communication you share with a person makes you very familiar with his various modes of communication, including body language and facial expressions. A good example is a nursing mother and her baby. So it is in your walk with God.
The more you spend time in His presence praying in tongues, the more sensitive your spirit becomes to whatever form of communication the Lord wishes to employ to talk to you in that particular moment. It positions you to receive from Him guidance, understanding and counsel, while at the same time, it drives away confusion to where it belongs… the camp of the enemy.
4) Praying in tongues improves your discernment.
“Yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.” John 10:5
Differentiating between the voice of the Lord and that of the enemy is quite important. The devil often tries to deceive and seduce people, whether Christians or unbelievers. He has a way of talking to people, causing them to take wrong directions in life, wrong decisions in life, marriage, career and wrong responses to life’s problems and so forth.
There is a need as a child of God to develop your discernment in order to distinguish between voices. The more you pray in tongues, the sharper, better and clearer your discernment becomes.
5) It makes your prayer life more effective.
“Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving.” Colossians 4:2
The devil is a genius at hindering prayers. Remember how he hindered the prayers of Daniel for 21 days? (See Daniel 10:12,13).
In this generation of accelerated demonic activities and operations on the earth, if your prayer life is weak, the enemy would have a place in your life or home. But thank God your prayer life can be strong, for only then can you have a fruitful and fulfilling Christian life. Praying in tongues makes your prayer life very strong and the devil cannot kill it.
6) Praying in tongues activates and stirs up spiritual gifts.
“But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all.” 1 Corinthians 12:7
Every Christian baptized in the Spirit has a supernatural gift from God. However, that gift needs to be activated and put to use.
Praying in tongues is a sure way of activating spiritual gifts and hidden graces in your life. “Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you.” 2 Timothy 1:6
Engaging the wisdom of God with key biblical counsel and warfare strategies for your victory.
To walk in all the blessedness of praying in tongues, you must set aside time always to spend time in God’s presence. You can do that alone and you can also do it with a prayer partner. Set aside time to pray in tongues regularly, earnestly and put away your smartphone.
As you do this, expect all the benefits of praying in tongues to start and continue happening in your life. Remain blessed!

I have been praying in tongues but still cannot overcome to forgive my ex asst cell leader who had done me so much harm and damage. She was a Pharisee, legalistic, controlling and using verses to manipulate abd guilt trip me. She was so sweet to others but when no one us watching, she would stare at me with a demonic look and spoke to me with a totally different voice and tone causing fear to me. How do i forgive such a evil and dark person?
Very encouraging!
